
My name is Mikhail Merkurieff, mercenary character artist and animator. I’ve been in industry 7 years. My experience covers nearly the entire CG Character pipeline, from concept, through modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation. I’m known for being exceptionally artistic as well as technically savvy. I’ve worked in video games, television, film, and contract work for just about everyone else. Having worked on such a diversity of projects by necessity I’ve had to become a bit of a generalist, but that doesn’t mean I’m ok at everything and good at nothing. What clients find useful is the fact that I can fill nearly any role they need or at least communicate between the different departments in an effective manner because I understand their part of the pipeline.
Why a “Mercenary” artist? The phrase was coined and hung around my neck by a friend and collegue who noted that I’m generally called in to redo or entire replace the work of others on very tight deadlines. If you hire me you aren’t just hiring a freelance you are hiring a Mercenary.
